Help needed…

With the help of Avi, I am currently working towards the setting up of a media lab with audiovisual facilities at the University within the Communication Studies Unit. We have in fact been able to secure sponsorship from the UNESCO to help us mount this long-awaited project. Hopefully, the lab should be operational by July/August 2008.

We are in the process of acquiring the necessary equipment but are confronted with the difficulties associated with the size of the local market and the unavailability of many specific products. So I’d like to know whether anyone can help point out the names of potential suppliers for the following items for which we have received no quotes to date from any of the numerous suppliers we have contacted:

- M-Audio FastTrack USB
- M-Audio Studiophile DX4 Monitors
- M-Audio SoundCheck Dynamic Microphone
- Quick-Lok A-188 Microphone Stand
- Velbon DF-60 Dual Function Light Weight Tripod
- Video Lighting Kit and Reflectors

If you also know of any suppliers who can propose suitable alternatives on the local market, please let me know by filling the comments section or e-mailing me (chanssc@uom.ac.mu).

Thanks a lot!

I just bought a Hercules MK2 DJ Console from Maurisoft Ltd, Pailles. Try contacting them! They’ve got loads of things and that they’ll surely be willing to import if they don’t have :)

    Hi Christina,

Haven’t heard from you in a while.
    Have a look at Identiti’s website: http://www.identiti.cc

    How is this project evolving?
Do you still need help concerning the equipment?
Do you need help on the project itself, as it sounds really interesting since I have worked on a couple of media labs in London.

    Let me know

    Hi Shaan,

Yes, I have been very busy these few days and I still have lot coming too…

Thanks for your help. We have finished ordering most of what we need and are waiting for delivery of the equipment, which are coming in little by little. In fact, we have had to review and amend our list as we were running out of money and/or could not get some of the models we required.

I had a look at your website. Looks quite nice. Have you been able to get some new recruits?
